Test sail the Weta Trimaran

As two of our members, Louis and I, professed interest in the Weta trimaran, I managed to get two boats at Knysna for demo.

They arrived late on Saturday. Rob Clarke and I spent the Sunday morning to assemble and rig them, and we had an awesome sail Sunday afternoon. It wasn’t blowing very much but they still moved very well and they do take off at the slightest hint of a gust.

They are very well behaved and an absolute pleasure to sail with a boomless main, a jib and a gennaker on a fixed pole. Carbon mast, outriggers, etc.

Allegedly they are between a Hobie14 and a Hobie16 speedwise, but compared with a H14, which is the most difficult boat to tack, these Wetas are a breeze to sail.

If you would like a trial sail contact me, or Rob Clarke, as we know where we keep the sails, etc. And if you’d like to buy one I can let you have the details of Danie Colijn who is the importer. They are a New Zealand design and made in Shanghai. They go back to the Cape about 12th March.
