Sailing News April 5th 2010
Hi sailors (where-ever you are),

Hope you all had a good Easter holiday!

Last Saturday the Commodore’s 3 was cancelled. Pity really as it was nice weather with a lovely 16 knots of wind, but only two Lasers and one Finn had signed in and we invoked the principle that if there are more people on the bridge and rescue than racing on the water, it is not on. That principle also is the basis for the Club rule that four boats are needed to validate a race.

Next Saturday, 10th April, we hope that some more of you will turn up for the fourth and last of the Commodore’s Cup series. It’s a neap tide with a high of 1.51m at 14h06. We’ve had only four races so far for the Commodore’s, and none of the 12 entrants actually sailed all four races.

Jock McConnachie is leading on 22 points and John Fowler is on 26. And Chick is leading in the Hobies on 29. But there are discards to be had if we can manage at least another two races. So please do turn up.

Neil Metelerkamp will be doing the bridge and Adrian Wilson-Forbes the rescue

The keelboats will also be racing that Saturday afternoon so at least you won’t be feeling too lonely on that big lagoon!
